In 2024, Irish adventurer and motivational speaker Johnny Coyne became the first person in history to kayak from Ireland to Asia, completing an epic journey from Dublin to Istanbul by human power alone.

The expedition began at St. Patrick’s Rowing Club in Dublin, where Johnny Coyne launched his kayak and set out on a mission to push the limits of physical endurance and inner strength. Spanning over 4,000 kilometers across 11 countries, the route included paddling through the Irish Sea, English Channel, River Thames, French and German canals, the entire length of the Danube River, and finally, the Black Sea coast to the Bosphorus Strait in Istanbul.

This world-first journey was more than just an adventure — Johnny Coyne paddled for a purpose, raising awareness and support for Daisy Lodge, a children’s cancer respite center in Mayo.
